MILITARY/VETERANS
Transforming Lives, One Service Dog at a Time
Established in 2011 by Blake Rashad, a former Army canine trainer and Atlanta police officer, Top Dogg K9 provides highly trained service dogs to veterans navigating PTSD, anxiety, and other challenges. With a mission to reduce the number of military families impacted by suicide, the organization has placed over 450 service dogs, positively impacting more than 2,500 veterans and their families.
Blake’s extensive background in training bomb, drug, and search-and-rescue dogs laid the foundation for this life-changing program. The dogs are trained for cognitive and memory support, medical alerts, mobility support, and more. Top Dogg K9 not only trains service dogs but also equips veterans with the skills and confidence to navigate life with their new companions.
Grant funding from the Cobb EMC Foundation enabled Top Dogg K9 to provide essential veterinary care, including hip, eye, and elbow screenings. This support ensures that each dog is healthy and ready to serve, extending their working life and safeguarding the well-being of both the animals and their veteran partners.
Top Dogg K9 serves dozens of Georgia veterans annually and makes a profound difference by providing them with a renewed sense of independence, connection, and purpose.

"With support from organizations like the Cobb EMC Foundation, we are able to continue providing service dogs free of charge to veterans who desperately need them. Many veterans arrive at our doors withdrawn and struggling, often brought in by loved ones as a last resort. These dogs don’t just provide companionship. They become lifelines by helping veterans regain confidence and rediscover hope."
